Posts and Eligibility

There is 1 contractual vacancy for the post of Agroforestry Expert under the project "TEEBAgriFood Activities in Assam". The prescribed educational qualification is a doctoral degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Silviculture, Agroforestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field with at least one publication in a Scopus indexed journal.

The age limit for the post is not more than 40 Years. SC/ST/OBC/Women/PWD candidates will be eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India norms. In addition, the notification outlines the following desirable skills and knowledge:

• Knowledge of agroforestry systems, climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem services and nature-based solutions.
• Experience in field data collection, field surveys, data analysis and technical report writing.
• Ability to engage effectively with farmers, local communities, government agencies, researchers and other stakeholders.
• Good communication, documentation, presentation and knowledge-sharing skills.

IIFM Agroforestry Expert Job Description

Under the supervision of the Team Leader and in close coordination with the TEEBAgriFood project team, the Agroforestry Expert will be responsible for the following roles and duties:

• Provide technical support on agroforestry and related nature-based solutions for TEEBAgriFood activities in Assam.
• Support the identification, documentation and assessment of agroforestry practices and their environmental, social and economic benefits.
• Design and support field surveys, data collection, field assessments and analysis related to agroforestry and ecosystem services.
• Prepare technical notes, reports, case studies, knowledge products and policy briefs on agroforestry and sustainable agricultural practices.
• Support stakeholder consultations and field-level engagement with farmers, communities, government agencies, researchers and civil society organizations.
• Identify, document and promote good practices and innovative agroforestry models with potential for wider adoption.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of training, capacity-building and knowledge-sharing programs for farmers and other stakeholders.
• Support the integration of agroforestry and ecosystem-service considerations into TEEBAgriFood assessments and project outputs.
• Coordinate with project partners and field teams to ensure timely collection, compilation, validation and documentation of field information.
• Contribute to project reports, presentations, publications and other technical deliverables as required.
• Undertake field visits extensively in Assam and adjoining regions, including remote locations and areas with difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
• Perform any other project-related technical responsibilities assigned by the Team Leader.

What Happens on the Day

On 26 October 2026, candidates must report at 10:00 AM at Room No. 106, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Nehru Nagar, Bhopal – 462003. The registration process will be closed at 10:00 AM on the interview date. Following registration and document verification, the walk-in interview will be conducted starting at 11:00 AM.

Important Instructions

• The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the concerned Team Leader, IIFM, Bhopal, and will be required to join immediately after selection.
• The position requires extensive travel in Assam and adjoining regions, including travel to remote locations and areas with difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
• No TA/DA will be provided to attend the interview. TA/DA for approved project-related visits will be admissible as per applicable norms. No other allowances shall be admissible.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification of the candidature.
• The Director, IIFM reserves the right to reject any candidature on account of incomplete information or for any other reason deemed appropriate.
• This is a project-related contractual position and has nothing to do with the permanent establishment of IIFM, Bhopal. Based on this position, any claim for regular appointment in IIFM will not be entertained.
