How the UGC NET Cut Off Is Determined
Number of candidates: Higher competition in a subject can push the cutoff up.
Difficulty level: A tougher paper generally brings the cutoff down, and vice versa.
Normalization: Since the exam runs across multiple shifts, scores are normalized to offset shift-to-shift difficulty differences.
Category-wise reservation: Separate cutoffs apply for UR, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD as per government reservation norms.
Previous-year trends: NTA also references past cutoff patterns to keep results broadly consistent year to year.
How to Check UGC NET Cut Off 2026
Visit the official website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in
Look for the "UGC NET Cut Off 2026" or "Result" link under Latest Updates.

Cross-check the figure against the scorecard, which also lists your individual cutoff status.
Important Instructions
Clearing the minimum qualifying percentage does not automatically mean you're qualified — you must also meet your subject and category cutoff.
JRF cutoffs are always higher than Assistant Professor cutoffs within the same subject and category, since JRF slots are limited.
There is no cap on the number of UGC NET attempts.
Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 must be cleared; qualifying only one paper does not count as qualifying the exam.
Candidates awaiting English, Commerce, or Sociology results should track the official website for updates after the 9–10 September 2026 re-exam.
NTA released the UGC NET June 2026 cutoff along with the result on 28 August 2026, for 84 of the 87 subjects.
Is the UGC NET Cut Off 2026 out for English, Commerce, and Sociology?
No. These three papers are being re-conducted on 9–10 September 2026 due to errors found in the original question papers, so their cutoffs are not available yet.
What is the minimum qualifying mark for UGC NET 2026?
40% aggregate across both papers for General/EWS candidates, and 35% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
Is the UGC NET cutoff the same for all subjects?
No. The cutoff varies by subject, category, and post type (JRF, Assistant Professor, or PhD Only), based on difficulty level, number of candidates, and normalization across shifts.
Where can I download the official UGC NET Cut Off 2026 PDF?
Only from the official NTA website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in, under the Results or Cut Off section.
